One day my wife and I weren’t having very good days. It’s not often that we both have a bad day on the same day, but it happened this day. We got home, and we started complaining about work, people, phone calls, traffic—you name it. Then, our daughter walked in and said something not very respectful, and we started complaining about that—to her face. Been there? To her credit, she stopped us in our tracks and said, “Why are you complaining about everything? Is that all you can do—complain?” Wow. Sometimes it takes a teenager to remind us that we can make our home a pretty unhappy place if we let sin get in the way. What should we do? “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil” (1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 NASB).
Do you complain too much?
